For Hard-of-Hearing

In-Studio Accessibility & Specialized Pedagogy at The Factory Lucero (Madrid)

At The Factory Lucero, our private audio and visual studio in Madrid is configured to provide an uncompromising, tactile, and sensory-adapted experience for blind, visually impaired, deaf, and hard-of-hearing clients across photography, screen acting, voice coaching, and executive presentation training.

All sessions are delivered strictly as one-on-one private coaching or micro-groups capped at a maximum of 3 students, ensuring an exceptionally high level of personal attention, safety, and tailored feedback.

1. Studio Accessibility for Blind & Visually Impaired Clients

  • Spatial Audio-Descriptive Walkthroughs: Upon arrival at The Factory Lucero, you receive a detailed, personally explained in-person audio tour of the studio floor, mapping out camera placements, Godox lighting stands, continuous LED setups, cable pathways, soundproofing zones, and seating areas.
  • Large Visual Wall Monitors: For clients with low vision or partial visual impairment, the studio is equipped with large wall-mounted visual monitors to display script text in high contrast, review enlarged photographic compositions, and monitor presentation progress comfortably without eye strain.
  • Tactile Lighting & Spatial Feedback: Directing and lighting setups are explained through touch—allowing clients to feel reflector angles, diffuser textures, modifiers, and the physical warmth of continuous LED light sources before taking a shot.
  • Audio-Descriptive Directing & Acting Analysis: Acting monologues and character breakdowns utilize audio-first direction, focusing on physical posture, tactile spatial awareness, and vocal resonance.

2. Specialized Technology & Pedagogy for Hard-of-Hearing & Deaf Students

We actively coach students with varying degrees of hearing challenges, utilizing advanced studio audio gear and visual feedback tools:

  • Neumann Studio Microphones & Closed Headphones with Individual Levels: Audio and vocal sessions utilize professional Neumann studio microphones paired with high-isolation closed headphones. Each student has independent, custom volume level controls, allowing hard-of-hearing clients to adjust audio monitoring to their exact comfort and hearing needs.
  • Dual-Channel Real-Time Visual Sound Matching (Audacity & Monitors): To assist hard-of-hearing students in mastering intonation and vocal mechanics, we capture audio using Audacity across two distinct channels (Coach vs. Student). On-screen visuals render the soundwaves live on large studio displays, allowing students to visually match their pitch, stress, and articulation curves with the coach in real time.
  • Visual Mechanics of Pronunciation (Lips, Tongue & Teeth): Our Received Pronunciation (RP) British English accent reduction and public speaking training emphasizes the visual mechanics of speech—focusing explicitly on lip shape, tongue placement, teeth alignment, and facial muscle movement. This visual approach to phonetics is exceptionally effective for hard-of-hearing professionals.
  • Visual Cueing Systems for Directing & Photography: Verbal countdowns («3-2-1») are replaced with clear visual hand signals or studio cue lights to initiate photography takes, acting scenes, or presentation runs.
  • Optional «Hard of Hearing» Cue Badges: To ensure seamless communication during larger collaborative shoots or multi-person studio sessions, we offer optional, complimentary «Hard of Hearing» visual badges for clients who wish to provide a clear, subtle visual cue to others in the studio environment.

3. Professional Scope & E-E-A-T Disclaimer

  • Educational & Communication Scope: While we successfully coach hard-of-hearing students and adapt our methodology for sensory needs, our services are strictly educational, artistic, and performance-focused (specializing in English presentation skills, executive communication, phonetics, and drama).
  • Not Medical or Clinical Care: Edward Olive is an executive presentation coach, voiceover artist, actor, and photographer—not a logopeda (speech-language pathologist), medical doctor, clinical audiologist, or certified sign language interpreter. We do not teach or communicate via formal sign language (such as LSE or BSL). If a client requires medical speech rehabilitation, clinical audiology treatment, or diagnostic therapy, we maintain a strict E-E-A-T referral policy to guide them toward qualified healthcare specialists.
